Hi all,

Not great technically at all, so may be a silly question ...... but hope someone can help.

I have bought a new Microsoft Surface 7 from the US and the J , Q or delete key does not work. (the online keyboard works fine and there is no problem with that, it is only the Microsoft keyboard (bought with the Surface 7) for my Surface 7  that has the issue.

I am based in South Africa and have changed the keyboard to US setting and then tried to UK and then tried UK and changed keyboard to US QWERTY, still all have the same problem.

I cannot seem to get it to type any of those keys.

thanks all

Robin

To make sure the keyboard is the problem it would be good if you could test another external keyboard. But, as far as I know this isn't because it's a US keyboard, it should be at least sending the commands to the device and/or displaying a different letter/symbol that you clicked, but not doing anything.

If the keyboard it's the problem you should go to the store and ask for your warranty.

Thanks so much  , tried this and no luck yet. Thanks for the advise. I was told by someone else that it is a language keyboard setting between US and othee areas but have tried so many different options and still no luck.

Have you blown it out with canned air or washed it with liquid contact cleaner.

    Hi, Robin1969!

My name is Caio. I'm an Independent Advisor and I'll be glad to help you today.

When you say "it is only the Microsoft keyboard (bought with the Surface 7)" do you mean the physical keyboard? If it's the case, you can try updating your Surface's drivers on: https://support.microsoft.com/pt-br/help/402348...

If this doesn't work, you should use the store/product warranty.

I hope this helps you! Please let me know if I can help you more.

    Best regards,

    Caio G.
