There is a debug file on my desktop. It says : [1016/145258.052:ERROR:directory_reader_win.cc(43)] FindFirstFile: The system cannot find the path specified. (0x3)

What should I do? Everytime I turn on my PC it says scanning and repairing drive C while booting then after few seconds it boots.

This "solution" does not work -- and since reinstalling Chrome is a fairly large nuisance, I wanted to warn people not to bother. The Crashpad folder simply reinstalls itself, no matter how many times one reinstalls or what one does. Eventually, I'm guessing, the Chromium community will fixed this annoyance... but until then, one just has to put up with the small annoyance of a debug file cropping up in various places.

    Hi Sakkhor

I am Dave, an Independent Advisor, I will help you with this . . .

This is a known bug at the moment in the Chromium based browsers, that file is no harm, it just contains debug information from your browser, do you use Chrome or another Chrome based web browser, if so, that is known to have created that log file on your Desktop

Do you use the Chrome browser, if so, open File Explorer, then in the address bar, paste this and press Enter:

    %LocalAppData%\Google\Chrome\User Data

Delete the Crashpad folder contained in that folder

Then check if that debug file is no longer created after a restart, if that still appears, re-install your browser . . .

Mr Dave , I have the same issue but it went so far that the windows update couldn't work either . It couldn't find the location where it's supposed to get downloaded . I started to find the whole content of one drive (One Drive included) migrated in : OS- Users- Blue- Documents - One drive and all the folders starting by Desktop - 3D Objects- App Data. Then the same thing happened to my Downloads folder . Found it under Users\Acces\Downloads. And so on . My music (.mp3) became Winamp URL  ! And so on . A simple rtd from simple text file couldn't be deleted for lack of admin rights . So once opened instead of being a single text page suddenly had a folder properties and could be expanded there were pdf (emails attachment ) downloaded one day before . Well I guess you got the point . So what helped me was the error's ID displayed by windows update ( 0X80070002 that worsened into the 0x80070043 same almost as the 0X80070035 .

Well I've been on the issue since yesterday morning >>>>> going on an hitch of 36 hours . So I went through the SFC /scannow . I had to run it twice to get it like all errors were taken care of . So I rebooted and blue screen ! As usual none of the numerous start up / boot options would work . no image recovery found, None clickable under network either etc .. only dos commands as usual too . So when you get it openned you understand why nothing worked since the "C" directory is replaced by the "X" no one knows how to get rid of it .... I ended up after hourssss of forums browsing , blogs and almost every else on the web on the subject . Ended up with the computer chkdsk /f /R taking hourss as well i finally slept a little . I got windows back up and running besides all the errors reported fixed didn't make a bit of a change . So media tool , new install  when 2 hours ago  I got a " [1227/233305.208:ERROR:directory_reader_win.cc(43)] FindFirstFile: The system cannot find the path specified. (0x3) " I'm such a happy camper tonight you wouldn't know . I'm about to choose the husband over the machine . I guess I'm not myself anymore . Hope to read from you . You got the whole story cos please don't make me RE try anything I already did . What would be a diskpart , second OS on separate partition a format xcluster by cluster Reinstall Os then erase the extra Os i had to put in to get the format complete ? I'm thinking it maybe my HDD but I noticed that this issue is all over the forums for only a couple months now . Like a windows 10 covid19 ?

I have 4 debuggers just paid and uploaded 365 and business  I am really getting lost since using my VIC-20  and Commodore at defunct Toys R US.   Was happy with plain text, but HTML has opened Microsoft over abundance of add-ons  every day. one wrong click and I spend hours trying to get back to 1st base.

What should I do at 81 years old?

I am from an age when something wen wrong, I would call  and they would fix my ASCII telex or fax machine.

Today we have to pay first than D.I.Y.   How bout it Microsoft, apple, Google, Zoom and others.
