File explorer and quick access query

Hi, I am a Windows 10 user with all updates up-to-date. Recently, my File explorer icons look like a page with the corner turned over - no normal file image and at the same time the quick access search never finishes?

    Hi David,

Thank you for the update. Have you tried setting the File Explorer Options?

    1. Click the Start Menu, type File Explorer Options, and then press Enter.
    2. Change the "Open File Explorer to:" from Quick access to This PC.
    3. Click Apply and OK.

I hope this helps. Please let me know how it goes. Thank you!

    Sincerely,

    Princess B.

Hi PrincessB, thanks for taking the time to assist - very much appreciated. I tried the System File Checker suggestion which has not cleared the problem, and wanted to check in with you re the OneDrive suggestion as I'm not sure on the relevance (my lack of knowledge I'm sure) as the issue is with the File Explorer icons appearing blank as drawn below:

I can select the file and open, but explorer eventually goes to Quick Access sticking on the image below - which is only resolved by a reboot? thx for your continued help.

    Hi

I would suggest running the System File Checker. Please refer to the below link for the detailed instructions.

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/402652...

In case the System File Checker doesn't fix the problem. I would suggest saving an offline copy of the OneDrive folder. Please follow the steps below.

    1. Sign-in OneDrive.
    2. Navigate to C:\Users"UserName".
    3. Right-click on the OneDrive folder and select "Always keep on this device".
    4. Safely restart the PC and check if the problem persists.

Please see the image attached below for your reference.

I hope this helps. Please let me know how it goes. Thank you!

    Sincerely,
    Princess B.
