Windows Error Code when accessing NAS Drive

Hello,

I am trying to figure out an issue with a NUC8i5bek, with Windows 10 installed on both. I purchased two of these recently and I am having issues with just one of them, NUC #1 (working) and NUC#2 (Not Working).  I have it connected to my network and I get the Can't access share drive with the Error Code: 0x80004005. I have made sure it is the one specific NUC by connecting NUC#1 to the same location and moving NUC#2 to the NUC#1's location. The issue is definitely with NUC#2. I have updated all the drivers, bios, and windows updates. I have gone through several steps to try to fix this with guides online, for example this one: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/error-code-0x80004005-while-connecting-nas-drives/20f0c283-49a6-4731-8c15-252bdeb04e10. I have not been able to fix the issue. I would like to know the following:

  • Also is there any way I can get more details from this issue?
  • Is there a way to copy the windows image from NUC#1 over to NUC#2?
  • Also is there any way I can get more details from this issue? Thanks,

If you could please reread the post as the common factor is not NAS related, and I do not have a NAS Synology so going to that forum would not help me in anyway what so ever. It is the Windows 10 software which as you pointed out is having some sort of issue where this error pops up incorrectly. If you would also read the link I pointed to, someone else runs into the same exact issue on a laptop. The error only occurs on one NUC  and the other has no issue reaching the drive. So again it is specific to this build of Windows, installed on the NUC. I have 7 other devices from phones, tablets, Desktops, and of course the NUC that has no issue connecting and accessing the drive.

    Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

We understand the concern as you are getting Windows update error while accessing NAS drive.

However, for issues related to NAS network drive, let me help to point you in the right direction. I would suggest you to post your query in TechNet Forums where you will find professionals with expertise on NAS for Windows 10 and that would be the appropriate forum.

Meanwhile, you may also want to check with NAS Synology Technical Support team, as there could be some changes made at the background.

    Regards,

Let us know the results. If the issue persists, we will certainly assist you further.
