.Net Framework missing from Windows Features

I'm running windows 10 1909 build 18363.1082 and after an update which had a BSOD in the middle of it I am now having troubles with the .NET Framework.

When I try to open any application which used .NET framework I get the following message:

Looking in the 'Windows Features' window there seems to be a duplicate of many of the items, and no options for .NET Framework 3.5 or 4. If I try to tick the box next to any of the .NET Extensibility items it will be unticked the next time I open the window.

And if I then try to install the .NET framework from the microsoft offline or web installer I get the message that .Net Framework 4.8 or later is already installed

I've tried running the .NET Framework repair tool, which came back with the following actions, however that hasn't solved the problem.

The next step gives a lsit of logs, which I'm happy to attach if any of them may be relavent.

Has anyone got any further suggestions on how to fix this?

Thanks in advance,

Charlie

    First, I recommend downloading and running the tool on the link below, please, for a system check and update:

    Verify that the problem is resolved.

    If it persists, based on your equipment model, go to the manufacturer's website and download compatible and updated drivers, and reinstall them. Follow the guidelines on the link below, please.

    In this case I suggest that you try instead of disabling the .NET Framework from the windows features, try uninstalling everything starting with "Microsoft .NET" from your control panel.

    Uninstall .NET Framework

    1. Press windows + r;
    2. Type appwiz.cpl to go directly to the programs installed on your computer;
    3. Uninstall everything that starts with "Microsoft .NET".
    4. Press windows + r and now type% temp%;
    5. Press ctrl + a and delete all the temporary files in this folder, if any cannot be deleted, you can ignore it;
    6. Restart your computer;
    7. Try again to install the .NET Framework offline.

    I await news.

    Hi Paloma,

    Many thanks for the advice there, sadly it doesn't seem to resolve this issue.

    I have tried running the update tool and it found an update for 2009, however at the end of that it came up with an error: 'Sorry we're having trouble determining if your PC can run Windows 10. Please close Setup and try again.

    I have checkd the drivers and they seem to be up to date.

    Looking in the appwiz.cpl I cannot see any items which start with Microsoft .NET

    Is there anything else that you can think of to check?

    I'm really sorry to hear about this problem.

    Try to uninstall the Microsoft XNA Framework redistributable 4.0 application, after that restart your computer and try to reinstall NET Framework offline.

    Let me know please if it worked.

    This NET Framework problem can be quite annoying to fix it when this type of problem happens, in the last case the only solution is to reinstall windows cleanly with the latest version so that it corrects once and for all.

    Hi Paloma,

    Windows 10 Pro Version 1903.

    I also have problem like Charlie. I got .NET Framework error while installing Docker. I try to find  .NET Framework, then .NET Framework is not listed in programs, windows and features.
    I cant install and open any software that need .NET Framework.

    I tried many ways from microsoft comunity and others. I also try to update windows from version 1903 to 1909 and failed [Feature update to Windows 10, version 1909 - Error 0x800f0905].

    Net Framework Repair Tools didnt work also.

    Has anyone got any further suggestions on how to fix this?

    Thanks.

    Sanusi

    Hi Sanusi,

    In the end the only way I resolved this was to reinstall windows unfortunately.
