Network Sharing

I have two Windows 10 computers on my network that are not communicating with each other.  One of them can see the other and share files and folders, the other can't.  I've turned on File and printer sharing on both computers, for public, private and all networks.  I've shared folders on both computers with full control for everyone.  The two computers are named Cockpit-1 and Cockpit-2.  Cockpit-2 isn't visible under Networks on Cockpit-1 but I can see Cockpit-1  on Cockpit-2.  I've tried using the network trouble shooter but it doesn't find any problems.  Both computers are able to access the internet.  They are both connected by Ethernet.

Hi Jerry,

I'm Benedict, an Independent Advisor. I'm here to help you.

Kindly check if SMB 1.0/CIFS File Sharing Support feature is enabled in the Windows Features:

  1. Open Start Menu.
  2. Type and search for Turn Windows features on or off, and Click it
  3. Windows Features window will appear, scroll down and look for SMB 1.0/CIFS File Sharing Support. Double click on that.
  4. See if the options SMB 1.0/CIFS Automatic Removal and SMB 1.0/CIFS Client are checked. If not, please do so.
  5. Click OK. This will now apply the changes.
  6. It will prompt you to restart your computer. Click Restart now.

Check your Network folder and see if network computers will now appear.

Hope that helps.

Regards,

Benedict P.

Thank you so much Benedict.  That seems to have done the trick.
