Windows "Search Automatically for Drivers" automatic update feature not working

Hi,

I have a new computer and I've noticed all the drivers are from 2006 when I look into their properties. When I use the ""Search Automatically for Drivers" option it always returns that the latest version is installed. I've updated my computer to the latest version of Windows so there shouldn't be an issue there. I have tried manually updating a few of the drivers (Wifi, Bluetooth) and they do update when I manually install them, so it seems to be an issue with the auto update feature. I'd rather not go through the process of manually updating all my drivers all the time, is there a way to fix the auto update feature?

Any help is appreciated.

    Hi Bill

Click your Start Button, type winver and hit Enter

On the resulting dialog, what Version No. and build No. of Windows 10 are you running?

Thanks Dave. Confirming that there are no exclamation points or any indicator that something is wrong.

There are instances where the drivers stated they had the latest updates but I know they did not, such as the cases where I manually updated the drivers (Bluetooth driver, Wi-Fi driver). So I know that the auto-update feature does not work when there is an update available, even if not all the drivers that list 2006 as the latest driver need to be updated. So unfortunately there is still an issue with the auto-update feature.

    Hi Bill

I am Dave, an Independent Advisor, I will help you with this . . .

Is your PC working correctly, and if you open Device Manager, are all the device categories closed up wit no exclamation marks beside any specific device?

If so, your PC is working correctly and all drivers are installed correctly

You mention some drivers are listed as being from 2006, this is normal for some devices that use Microsoft drivers, those have never been updated since that date . . .
