Sometimes, when I open my laptop, I don't see my D: drive. I restart the laptop and then it starts to show again. Sometimes I have to restart many times to make it appear again. Recently It starts to disappear while I am using the laptop. So when I open the laptop, I see it and after sometimes it disappears from the partition's list. I scanned the drive for errors but it says "Your drive was successfully scanned. No errors were found"

I am thinking to remove all the partitions and then reinstall Windows. but It's my work laptop and I don't want to install all the software again. What do you guys thing causing this issues? I should also inform that I installed the Ubuntu in one partition but I have removed it already to test if it was causing the issue, which I doubt it was.

Hello, how are you?

Welcome to the Microsoft Community!

My name is Paloma B., I'm an independent advisor, I'm here to help you in the best possible way.

I understand that your D drive disappears on your computer.

Is this partition on the same disk or are they two separate disks?

Try changing the letter of the partition and see if the problem still happens.

I also recommend that you do a Windows update check using the tool below.

https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=799445

After that, update your BIOS by downloading the latest version directly from the manufacturer's website.

We will test these possibilities before you leave for a Windows reinstallation.

I await news.

    Thanks for the info.

Yes, updating the BIOS is a good option.

What would be the model of your computer or motherboard?

The Windows update didn't work. I changed the driver letter. Let's see if it worked.

Edit: Even changing the driver letter didn't work. I am out of options now. Probably updating BIOS can fix this.

    Hi Paloma,

Thank you for your reply and suggestion. Yes it is same disk. The drives other than C disappears randomly and keep appearing. I will try to change the letter but since other partitions also disappears, I doubt it will fix the issue.

Edit: I just updated windows by using your link. It was kind of surprising because I thought Windows update it self and I have up to date Windows. If the update doesn't fix it, I will try the renaming of partition. I am also looking for any BIOS or driver update for my laptop.
