System Interrupts?

Hello! I had an issue where when I changed the DNS IP in Network Adapter properties, my Windows suddenly did not respond at all for maybe 20 seconds, then it fell down to 0.1% for the System Interrupts in Task Manager! Is this normal? It seems to be normal 100% of the time now but it's still set to 0.1%, but could the DNS change cause it or do I have failing hardware?

After a lot of research I found that I have a completely normal "System Interrupt" percentage, which was what I was asking? 0.1% is completely fine when using the mouse and keyboard. System Interrupt is the function to tell the CPU that it has to put current processing on hold to do a more important task, like moving the mouse. That the percentage was 100% for 20 seconds after changing DNS could have been a result of changing the DNS to the automatic one. That or I have some failing hardware, but I've tested most of the devices and all the HDD's are just fine. So if it happens again I will get back to this, but I think it was a result of the DNS change.

    Hi Bluelight82,

I understand, maybe I don't explain clearly, but in my experience, this percent is indicative of some problem in the hardware aspect. The 20 seconds could be the time passed for recovery data by the system, after your change and made some internal operations, by this I named as a symptom.

By the way, I add below some links that explain different tests that could make in your PC for searching some hardware, the idea is to try to find some indicators for possible fails, and not that this hardware is doing it today (for example a disc, heat levels, RAM, etc.). The link for your review are:

IP change was not the symptom. I did the IP change myself, but not the IP though, it was the DNS server IP, not my IP. And for 20 seconds After I did the DNS change the computer got 100% CPU used by the System Interrupt process in Task Manager and did not respond at all. So what I'm wondering is: Was the interrupt caused by the DNS change or is it impending Hardware failure? It's not a very old computer and with pretty high specs.

    Hi Bluelight82,

I’m Mario an Independent Advisor. I’ll try to help you with this problem.

I reviewed your questions and I think that normally the system interrupts are about hardware, the IP change maybe could be a symptom that you saw at those moments and not before. In my analysis, I found the next link that explains in detail the interrupts and the solutions to their issues. The link for your review is:
