My laptop had some driver problems, so the microsoft technician's advised me for a factory reset and walked me through a windows reinstallation download. The resetting process started began and the computer went to restart. Upon restart the windows logo displays with a message "preparing" and then an error box pops up (Windows Installation cannot proceed. the popup says to click OK to proceed but it keeps going into a loop. Now I cannot even reinstall windows from a backup recovery USB drive. How do I reboot to get this started? Have tried hard boot many times but did not work.

    Hello TijNerurkar, welcome to the Microsoft community, my name is Luiz Cruz, an independent consultant and I would be happy to help you.

    What exactly is the model and manufacturer of the Laptop?

    Initially even without this information I recommend that you follow the steps below, and if you don't solve or provide any error code send us an image at the time of the problem:

    I believe you already have a DVD or Pendrive with Windows 10, I will list other steps that may help you. Even if I have a DVD or Pendrive, I will go through the procedures to create a boot device and start it through your computer to try to recover the system.

    Download the tool according to the installed Windows 10 architecture. On here: https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=691209

    Run the downloaded setup and click Create installation media for another computer;

    Select the Language, then select the edition and architecture according to the installed Windows 10;

    Connect the Pen Drive;

    Click Next;

    Select the USB Flash Drive option and click Next;

    Click Finish;

    Boot with the Pen Drive; If you don't know how to access here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/cri...

    When the installation window appears, click Install Now e siga as intruções para a instalação.

    I hope I helped, even more!
