Processor throttling under load

Good Afternoon,

Since installing the 20h2 update my CPU (i7-8700k) throttles down too 0.78ghz under load. This happens gradually, but is not linked to the temperature as the chip us only hitting 31oC and is water-cooled, I've never had this issue before.

My CPU is OC'd to 5.0ghz across all cores and I have tried to force the chip not to clock down by changing the AVX offset to 0 in the BIOS.

Is there anything I can do to get around the issue or do I need to roll back my windows version?

Many thanks,

Chris

    Hi,

I'm using the performance monitor in task manager. I've also tried using NZXT CAM, but there was no change.

I have tested against Need for Speed Heat, FIFA 21 as well as 3D Mark, all programmes trigger the same issue. Throttling starts when loading, loading will complete, albeit significantly slower.

You are using notebook or desktop? Which is the full model?

    Hi Robinson,

Thank you for replying, I completed the steps suggested and there were no issues noted, unfortunately, the problem persists.

    How are you monitoring throttles?

    Are you using any program?

    Does it cause any issue?

I would recommend you to open start and search for feedback and open Feedback Hubapp and report this issue.
