Changing the primary mouse button setting on one computer changes the setting simultaneouly on neighboring computer on different account

Our home office has a couple of PC computers (an ACER Spin laptop and a custom AMD desktop) running entirely separate Windows accounts on different email addresses.

The problem: When a user changes the primary button in the Settings>Mouse page on one of the computers, the other computer automatically changes to that setting as well.

Both computers use wireless mice but mouse clicks and movements only affect the computer the corresponding dongle is attached to, so there is no apparent wireless interference.

Why is the mouse primary button option on one computer changing the mouse primary button option on the other and how do I fix this?

    Hi Mango

I am Dave, an Independent Advisor, I will help you with this . . .

It is very strange that those PC's have different accounts and yet that change affects both devices, do those PC's share a common Admin account?

On both PC's go to Settings - Accounts - Sync your Settings

Turn off all options on that page, then restart (not shut down) the PC and set the preferred mouse button configuration, then test to see if that behavior stops . . .

Yes, the PCs share a common Admin account for the one administrator (myself) who manages all the computers in our home office. However, the two computers in question use separate Windows accounts (with separate licensed Windows 10 installs) for the main users.

After turning off the Sync Settings in Accounts, the mouse primary button setting no longer crosses over to the other computer. However, I would like to have the option of syncing settings, as the account holders need to periodically use separate laptops for travel.

    Thanks for your help

    Hi Mango

On that Sync Your Settings page, turn back on the 'Other Windows Settings' option and see if that is the one causing the problem, if it is, then that is the only option that needs to be disabled

Since the "Other Windows Settings" option is greyed out and unselectable when the "Sync settings" option was off, I turned "Sync settings" back on and turned off "Other Windows settings".

The primary mouse button setting is no longer changing the other computers primary mouse button setting.

It would be useful though to determine how to have "Other Window settings" turned on without the different Window accounts (but similar Admin accounts) affecting each other.

    Thanks for your help though.
