Hi all, I need help I'm not very good with computers but I can follow instructions very well if anyone can help me. My Touchpad stopped working. I've tried everything that I had Googled...

I have an HP Laptop 15-bs1xx

I tried to update the drivers in the device manager but the Synaptics touchpad is not there.

I tried to download the drivers through HP website. I download an install it then I have to restart the laptop to complete the installation but when it comes back on it's still not working. I search in the device manager it is there so I update the drivers then have to restart the computer again then when it comes back on in device manager it has deleted?

So I downloaded driver easy and paid for the Pro version and still nothing?

I tried to do a systems restore that didn't help.

Then I tried a factory reset and still nothing? I don't know what else to do.

Thank you for the informations.

After installation your Windows will probably recognize the activation automatically.

Anyway, you can execute the command below to know your windows key.

Product key via Command Prompt.

Click the Windows key + X.

Select Command Prompt (Admin) ou Windows PowerShell (Admin).

Enter the command below to find your product key. Don't forget to press Enter

wmic path softwareLicensingService get OA3xOriginalProductKey

The key will appear on the screen, so you can write it down to save.

I await news.

    Hi Paloma,

Thanks for your reply! I have read through the steps on how to perform a clean install of Windows 10 some of it is a bit confusing, I purchased this laptop with windows 10 already installed and I don't know the licence key I'm worried if I go ahead and do it I will stuff up my laptop.

    Hello Janelle, how are you?

    Welcome to the Microsoft Community!

My name is Paloma B., I'm an independent advisor, I'm here to help you in the best possible way.

I understand that you had problems with the Synaptics Touchpad on your computer.

I suggest you try to perform a clean installation of Windows to see if the problem still happens, it is more efficient and will start from scratch, it will probably correct this problem, after installing the correct driver for your computer.

Please access the thread below and perform exactly the procedures.
