INACCESSIBLE BOOT DEVICE

Hello, I need help please.

I reset my laptop (because it is a secondhand laptop and had Windows 10 Enterprise on it, activated through KMS. So I wanted to wipe it clean and have it revert to the preinstalled Windows 7).

I chose the Remove all files and clean the drive option and after more than an hour of Resetting this PC it displayed the manufacturer's logo and then the Windows 10 logo with the loading icon beneath it.

I thought it was going to restart like brand new.

Instead, showed a blue screen error saying INACCESSIBLE BOOT DEVICE.

Please help. I really need it for class.

    Hi Dave!

I now have installed Windows 10 Pro and using a bootable USB Drive from Windows Media Creation Tool. Unfortunately, when I tried to activate it using the product key of the Windows 7 Pro that my laptop was shipped with, it gave two errors. One on the activation screen (0x803FA067) and one on the window which where you had to input the key (0x80041024). I have verified my device is genuine and shipped with Windows 7 Pro activated. OEM_SLP.

Is there a solution for this?

Thank you so much for replying!

I want to remove the KMS activation and return to the preinstalled OS which is Windows 7 for security reasons. I've looked for help in the manufacturer's website also. They have a DELL OS Recovery Tool which cleans your device into the state as it was first shipped from them. I'm going to try this too.

I hope I can still update you with how it goes.

    Hi LUTRINAE

I am Dave, an Independent Advisor, I will help you with this . . .

That reset operation has not completed correctly, and has resulted in a corrupt operating system.

Resetting Windows 10 would not have resolved the problem with having KMS activated version of Windows 10 Enterprise, that would just have re-installed Windows 10 Enterprise

The best option is to create a bootable Windows 10 USB on another working PC, then boot your PC from that and clean install the version (Home, Pro . . etc) of Windows 10 your PC is licenced to . . .

    Click this link:

    https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-downlo...

to download the Media Creation Tool (Click on Download Tool Now), with that you can download the latest Windows 10 ISO (Select Create Installation Media for Another PC), you can create a bootable USB flash drive (min 8GB) using that tool

Then, Boot your PC from the Installation Media you just created (change Boot Order in your BIOS) to begin installing Windows 10

Since you previously had Windows 10 installed and activated on that PC during the installation process skip the steps which ask for a product key and select the option 'I am Reinstalling Windows 10 on this PC', and activation will not be an issue, your PC will have a digital entitlement stored on the Microsoft Activation Servers

Make sure you install the same Edition of Windows 10 (Home, Pro . . . etc.) you previously had installed to avoid Activation issues
