2020-12-11T00:11:21+00:00

Trying to update to Windows 20H2.

Gets to about 80% then fails.

Have tried all the remedies that I have seen posted.

I have run the update trouble shooter.

I have completely removed all 3rd party anti-virus software only keeping MS Defender.

stopped and re-started wuauser service.

checked date/time settings.

I created a usb boot and tried to update from there and it fails.

When trying to repair/cleanup the existing image and execute the command DISM.exe  /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth from the command line (administrator level) it fails with Error 2.

The log text is below.

CAN SOMEONE HELP ME FIGURE THIS OUT!

VERY FRUSTRATING.

    Hi CTM_56 -

    I'm Jerico T., one of the Independent Advisor and a fellow Windows 10 user like you. I understand that you're having some issues right now, let us sort things out.

    This usually occurs when windows update services are not running properly on your computer. Please follow the steps below and check if it fixes the issue that you have.

    1. Restart your computer in safemode (Click on the link below to check on how to boot in safemode)

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/sta...

    1. Once in safemode, Open the run box by pressing the Windows Key + R and type services.msc and press enter
    2. Locate the following services on the services window that will open and make sure that the services are stop

    * Windows Update Service

    * Background Intelligence Transfer Service

    * Cryptographic Service

    * Windows Module Installer

    1. Navigate to below folders and delete all the content of below folders ( This will remove all pending updates and will refresh the update cache, removing all update history and updates that are problematic on your computer)

    * C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\

    * C:\Windows\System32\Catroot\

    * C:\Windows\System32\Catroot2\

    1. Once deleted please follow the steps on the link below

    https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/for...

    1. Once done, disable all 3rd party anti-virus before restarting your computer.

    Restart the computer and try to run the updates again

    Feel free to reach us back if you need further assistance.

    Hope this help. Have a good day.

    Thank you.

    Jerico T.

    Independent Advisor
