Virus scan failed error message while downloading a file using microsoft edge. Due to this, not able to download or save any file using the browser. How to bypass this error message?

I also suggest running a malware scan using the anti-virus you are using.

Did you go to McAfee and get their removal software? If you just used Programs & features you did not remove all the code and that cod that was left is what causes problems with Windows Security.
Got the complete code removed. Now, I am able to download the files. Thanks for your insights.
Yes, earlier had McAfee antivirus program. However, it is uninstalled now. Should I install any antivirus ?
Any 3rd party anti virus, security, cleanup programs EVER installed on the computer?
