Change folder view options

Hi. I want to permanently change the folder view options but what I want to do isn't available under the "Options" & "View" dialogue box.

I would like to have the following columns in all my folders every time I open them:

Name - Date Modified - Size - Path. That's all. The only variation I would like to include is "Length" for audio and video folders.

Am I asking too much? Has Microsoft decided that users aren't capable of making these kinds of decisions?

Please help me!  It would save me hours!

Thanks in advance.

It gets old setting your preferred folder view for each folder type (and each open/save view). If you just want to be able to set your preferred Explorer default view globally, have it apply to all new folders, and never get reverted back to Microsoft defaults, you can use a tool I wrote. It's called WinSetView and it's available on GitHub. See the Readme for full details.

    Hi Stephen

I am Dave, an Independent Advisor, I will help you with this . . .

This can be done, but before proceeding, there are a few types of folders in Windows that each folder gets optimized for and for each type you must set your preferred options for that type of folder

    1

    Open a folder of Videos

On the View Tab, set View to Details

Then right click any column header you do not want to see and untick that column header

Additional columns can be added from the View Tab

When you have the columns laid out to your preference, on the View Tab, click Options and on the resulting dialog, on the View Tab, click 'Apply to folders

That will set the view for all folders optimized for videos

Repeat the process for each other folder type, like Pictures, Documents, Mixed Items . . .etc.
