Windows Modules Installer Worker has been constantly running and draining resources with no updates needed and no way to stop the program. What could I do to prevent the resource drain or stop the program temporarily?

    I appreciate the response.
    This did not seem to fix the issue. Any other things you would suggest?

    Hi, my name is Claudeir, user and independent consultant, welcome to the community! It will be a pleasure to help!

    -I understand you, and I know how frustrating it can be when something doesn't work the way it should:

    Windows+R, type: services.msc, press enter, find the Windows Module Installer, double click, in the startup type, leave Manual, apply and Ok. Now find the Windows update service, double click, and in the type of startup, leave Manual.

    Now Windows+i, update and security, check for updates, then restart your PC by doing a clean boot:

    -Clean startup:

    Clean boot is for you to determine if a background program is interfering with your system or to optimize your system load.

    For clean boot follow the steps below:

    On the Desktop, press the Windows + R keys simultaneously to open Run;

    In the Run Menu type msconfig command and click OK to open System Configuration;

    On the Services tab, check Hide All Microsoft Services and Click Disable All;

    Click Apply and OK;

    Restart the computer.

    NOTE:This procedure disables all third-party services and programs. You can later, if the problem is solved in this way, enable the programs and services that will start with Windows, selectively, instead of keeping them all disabled. If the problem returns after activating the startup of a specific service or program, the problem is exactly in the startup of this software and it is recommended to remove it.

    This should lessen the extreme usage of your PC compared to Windows Modules.

    If the answer helped in any way, please consider leaving your opinion, marking it as answered or leaving more details so that we can continue the service, this is very important to us.

    Sincerely,

    Claudeir
