Hi everyone,

We have Sharepoint Server 2019 farm with 6 servers with roles (app, wfe1, wfe2, wfe3, search1, search2) and some custom timer jobs. After patching farm, when we run PSConfig on Search servers (other servers don't have this problem) , custom timerjobs dissapeared from farm (Job Definitions page in CA). We have to reactivate the feature for the timerjobs to appear again.

In Upgrade logs we found messages type like "Cannot deserialize type Microsoft.Sharepoint.Administration.SPDocumentListInfoSampleJobDefinition, Microsoft.SharePoint, Version=16.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=71e9bce111e9429c" for each custom type than contains timerjobs.

Why is this happening? How can I avoid this?

    Hi @Steanly Stevenson ,

In your scenario, I think you'd better have some professional expert to have a check on your servers to figure out the reason. It would be difficult to solve your problem just through forums.

So i would suggest you open a ticket with Microsoft to get dedicated Support.

is it possible that assemblies with classes of custom timer jobs got uninstalled from GAC during update? Another possible reason is that assemblies are not added to GAC of the server with Central administration in farm env: Custom Sharepoint jobs are not shown in the Sharepoint Central Administration.
