Windows 10 Microsoft News tile notifications

I have a question and a comment.

Am I doing something wrong, or am I not the only user who sees a news event displayed by the Microsoft News start menu tile, clicks on the tile, and not only does the app fail to transport me to the story, but 9 times out of 10, I can't even find the story.

I find it hard to conceive the developers thought users would appreciate having to manually search each news category tab, scrolling from top to bottom and down looking for something, but apparently that is the case.

This is furthermore compounded by the fact that the search field at the top of the app is not for searching for articles within the app. I don't want to be unnecessarily cynical, but that search option appears to be a strategy to get you to use Edge.

Did you try the three procedures I suggested?

    Don

    Yes. No effect.

This didn't just start recently happening. It's been quite a while.

Do you use the app? When you click on the start menu tile, does it take you to the related story?

When you use the search field at the top, does it find results within the app, or does it launch Edge?

If Edge is not your default browser make it the default to see if the problems go away.

    Hi Don,

Sorry, but I fail to see how clearing my browser cache, regardless of which browser I'm using (Firefox) addresses the issues I reported, or would have any effect whatsoever on my Windows 10 Microsoft News app. Two completely separate entities, with no relationship.

Would you please further expand on your reasoning?

    Thanks

    1. Quick and easy... Refresh via F5
    2. Right click the Taskbar and from Task Manager close all processes of whatever browser you're using
    3. Clear the cache of whatever browser you're using. https://www.refreshyourcache.com/en/home/
