Hi,

I tried dedicating more memory to minecraft, 2 G to be exact, and the game keeps crashing with this message.

# A fatal error has been detected by the Java Runtime Environment: # # EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION (0xc0000005) at pc=0x686a2ce9, pid=3248, tid=9120 # # JRE version: OpenJDK Runtime Environment Microsoft-22300 (16.0.1+9) (build 16.0.1+9) # Java VM: OpenJDK Server VM Microsoft-22300 (16.0.1+9, mixed mode, emulated-client, g1 gc, windows-x86) # Problematic frame: # C [lwjgl_stb32.dll+0x12ce9] # # No core dump will be written. Minidumps are not enabled by default on client versions of Windows # # If you would like to submit a bug report, please visit: # https://github.com/microsoft/openjdk/issues # The crash happened outside the Java Virtual Machine in native code. # See problematic frame for where to report the bug.

I upgraded my ram from 8 G to 16 G specifically so I  can dedicate more to minecraft. What does this error mean, and how can I fix it? Thanks.

    Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

I understand that Minecraft crash on launch. I’ll certainly assists you with the issue.

    However, please let us know:

    1. How did you allocate more memory to Minecraft?
    2. Does this issue occur with any other game?
    3. What is the make and model of the computer?
    4. Which build version of Windows 10 is installed on the computer? Refer Which version of Windows operating system am I running?

You may try performing Clean Boot and see if you are able to play the game.

Performing a clean boot will start the computer with minimal set of drivers and programs, to determine whether a background program is causing the issue. Some of the Startup programs will not load after performing a clean boot on the computer. However, that functionality will return when you reset the computer to start normally after finishing the troubleshooting.

To perform a clean boot on the computer refer to the article How to perform a clean boot in Windows.

If performing a clean boot fixes the issue then, please refer to the section How to determine what is causing the problem after you do a clean bootto check which program is causing the issue.

Note: Please refer the sectionReset the computer to start normally after clean boot troubleshootingto boot the computer in to normal mode after troubleshooting.

Let us know how it goes.
