Hi,

I have windows server 2016 host machine with VM running. After making certain system folder permission and gp update, then VM not displaying properly. So I reinstalled Hyper-V manager and add new VM but it didn't make any difference. whereas the VM is running and I can see it getting booted. I apply permission back to system32 folder. but the problem is not solved.

Regards,

The \windows and \system32 folders should not be modified. Sounds like you may need to save off the VHDs to removable media, clean install the operating system, patch fully, add hyper-v role, import the VHDs.

    Hi,
Microsoft doesn’t recommend changes to system folders because unexpected errors might happen due to various reasons.
Based on my understanding, I would suggest that you make copies of the vhdxs, reinstall the system and hyper-v feature, then create new VMs with exported vhdx files. After that, the problem should be fixed.

    Thanks for your time.
    Best regards,
    Danny
