Windows Clipboard function and upload

Dear all

In Settings > System > Clipboard

I found out, that if Clipboard history is ON and Sync across devices is ON, then the copied material is uploaded to Microsoft.

1.

If Clipboard history is OFF and Sync across devices is OFF, the copied material is definitely not uploaded to Microsoft?

2.

Can Clipboard history upload a file to Microsoft?

3.

When Clipboard history  is updated (I can see the list update realtime Windows + v), and I meantime monitor network activity, there is no upload activity.

How can that be, when the sync setting is ON?

When is the upload / sync happening?

4.

If I go offline. Clipboard history is ON and Sync across devices is ON.

Is the file then being synced later / when online?

Thank you for replying

Best regards

    Dear Dave

    Thank you for your reply

    I have some further questions

    1.

    ME:

    1.

If Clipboard history is OFF and Sync across devices is OFF, the copied material is definitely not uploaded to Microsoft?

    You:

1If both settings are off, then the Clipboard data is stored on your PC
If Clipboard history is off, then windows still stores the content on my PC? Are you sure about this?
What is the path / directory for the stored content / clipboard history data?

    Sync across devices

    “Microsoft receives your clipboard data”

    2.

Is this still the same elements shown in Windows + V?

And are still only Bitmap, Text and HTML elements?

    Thank you for your help

    Best regards

    Hi emilfrederiksen,

I am Dave, an Independent Advisor, I will help you with this.

Clipboard History is not uploaded to Microsoft at all, it is stored in your private Microsoft Account on OneDrive, Microsoft have no access to that data.

    1

If both settings are off, then the Clipboard data is stored on your PC

    2

No, Microsoft have no interest in your Clipboard data.

    3

The upload sync occurs the next time your Microsoft account data is synced form your PC.

    4

Yes, any data on the Clipboard will later be synced if you have those settings turned on.
