Memory leak issue

I see that Desktop Window Manager have a memory leak issue and it's consuming ram higher and higher till my system starts stalling. It had been happening since, 20h2 update and still not resolved.

Steps performed :-

  1. Downloading media creation tool and reinstalling it through bios. First day, no problem. Second day, again dwm.exe memory leaking.
  2. Tried clean boot and safe mode (still not working)
  3. Disabling fast startup ( working till now)

But, by disabling fast startup, booting time is slowed down.

Visited intel community, they saying to report it to microsoft. And, when reporting to microsoft, they are saying reset and keep asking, Is there anything else and they can't do anything.

Now what to do ? Throw this windog and purchase mac or, chromeos ? ****! Microsoft

To answer your answer: This issue is known for over a year now. No one at MS or Intel gives a damn so far about it. Read the entire joke here over 16 pages since a year, since 20h2 update.

    https://community.intel.com/t5/Graphics/BUG-dwm-exe-uses-memory-leakage-with-Intel-HD-Graphics-630/td-p/1222297

The issue is a mix of [Mod Removed] Intel devs and [Mod Removed] MS devs. You cant do anything about it so far. It happens (more often) after you put the laptop to sleep, hibernate or use fast startup, which is a sort of hibernate.

The issue is also still present in latest Windows 11 dev builds btw (:

My problem is resolved after clean boot.

Though dwm.exe quite often increases usage of ram. But, as soon as load increases, then it releases the memory as low as 15 mb. Hence, system doesn't slow down even 1%. I thank microsoft support agent for resolving my issue.

What are you even talking about!???????????????? "resolved after reboot" NO WAY : OOOOOOO NO WAAAAY. Do you even know what a reboot is? Obviously that RESETS THE MEMORY, AND? That doesnt SOLVE ANYTHING. It just RESETS THE MEMORY. The memory leak is not solved by that. Read my damn answer and the link I posted.

What MS support agent!? WHAT HELP? My GOD.

The issue is a bug in Intel drivers + dwm. Present still in Windows 11. No fix so far for it. THE END.

    Hi Arabinda,

My name is Igor, I'm Independent Advisor. I have 12 Microsoft MVP awards. It's a pleasure for me to help others and I'll do all my best to help you.

This may be due to graphic drivers' problem. Is this laptop or desktop, factory made or home assembled? Do you have one or two graphic adapters?

Sure you may buy more expensive Mac if you have spare cash.

    Please repair system files by

    DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

command from Windows PowerShell (administrator) environment.

Try to reinstall graphic driver from HP support site.

Laptop : HP 15q - ds0006tu, only Intel HD Graphics 620, ram 4 GB (1.2 Gb free when idle)

Regarding graphic driver issue, my cousin also have exactly this laptop and windows update is turned off by regedit in laptop which is currently in version 1909. Also, he have exact same version of mine 27... something. Only difference is mine is 21h1 and his 1909 and, he got the driver from HP Support Assistant. And, my one is automatically downloaded from WU and hp support assistant shows all are updated.

Hence, I am pretty sure, it's not a driver problem, rather it's a window problem.

Only thing that works is disabling fast startup, so, it completely shutdown and no issues. But, with this turned off, boot time increases from 20 sec to 5 mins. Hence, I am in middle way.

Visited intel community, they said that it's a issue from windows side.

    Waiting for your response🤗

Sorry for my bad words. Actually, due to this issue. When I was working in ms powerpoint. It stuck and task manager shown dwm. exe using 1.1 GB (97% RAM usage) with committed usage 9.8 GB/10.2 GB with disk also 100%, and system stalled. Hence, had to restart the laptop using button.
