Bluetooth missing?

Anonymous

I have been using Bluetooth headphones for the past few years with my PC and had no issues until recently.

Bluetooth appears to be “turned off” but there is no option to turn it on.

Bluetooth troubleshooter returns a message that says my device does not have Bluetooth capabilities.

Bluetooth does not consistently appear in Device Manager; when it shows up it has a Code 45 (hardware is not connected).

I have reinstalled drivers multiple times and reset my PC, but the Bluetooth issues still remain. Is there anything else I can do to solve this myself?

For reference, I am running Windows 10.0.19043 on a Dell Inspiron 7386.

    Hello macgregorh,

I'm John an Independent Advisor and a Windows user like you. I'll be happy to assist you today.

Please try the following methods below.

    1. Run the Bluetooth Troubleshooter

Press Start then click Settings(Gear icon)

Select Update and Security > Troubleshoot

    Click Additional troubleshooters

Select Bluetooth then click Run this troubleshooter

    1. Press Windows key+R to open Run then type: services.msc

    This will open Services app

Find Bluetooth Support service in the list

Right click it then select Restart

Right click it again then select Properties

Click General Tab, in the Startup Type option, choose Automatic in the drop down list.

    Click Apply and OK.

    Restart your computer.

    1. Please try to turn off Fast startup

Press Start then search Control panel

Under View by > select Small icons

    Select Power Options

On the left side, Click "Choose what power buttons do"

Click "Change settings that are currently unavailable"

Under Shutdown settings > Turn off fast startup

Power off the system then pull the power cable from the laptop, wait for 15 minutes.

    Power back on

Kindly let me know if this helps or if you have any further concerns.

    Kind regards,

Managed to solve the issue using the method outlined in this thread (I unplugged the laptop, powered down manually, and waited for a few minutes before restarting): https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/bluetooth-capability-not-detected-windows-10/0db9ce62-eba9-4b85-9e5c-15336f41bfe3?page=2

Thank you! I had the same issue, and the third method fixed it for me.
