Network Connection Issues?

Hi there,

I've been having issues making ethernet connections on my Windows 10 desktop, lately. I moved recently, but I'm not sure when the issues began. I retained my router from my previous apartment, and the connection settings shouldn't have changed at all. However, when I went to plug my computer in at my new apartment, I wasn't given any options to connect to a network. Through task manager, I started WLAN AutoConfig, which allowed me to connect to my router using the built-in wifi on my motherboard. However, despite now being connected via an ethernet connection, I'm unable to connect that way.

I tried to do a network reset, but it ended up at the same result. Additionally, I've searched for new drivers for my networking components, but haven't found anything newer, and the Microsoft troubleshooter isn't able to come to a solution. Any help?

I'm running a Ryzen 5950x processor on Asus ROG Strix X570-I motherboard. According to Windows Updater, I am running the latest version of Windows.

    Hi,

temporarily disable the wi-fi adapter, then connect via network cable, run the troubleshooter and report the Windows error message or post the screenshot. Then open PowerShell or CMD and type ipconfig / all and then hit enter. Copy everything and post the result.

Ah, my apologies. Yes, it's a direct line from my router to my desktop, via an ethernet cable. That was the same set up in my previous apartment as well.

but you did not answer my question: Is the PC connected directly to the router or via the ethernet socket on the wall or via a hub / switch or other?

Hi Franco, thanks for your reply. Sadly I've tried a network reset, as well as disconnecting the ethernet cable as well as the router power, but no luck.

    Hi IanBattaglia ,

Is the PC connected directly to the router or via the ethernet socket on the wall or via a hub / switch or other?

Disconnect / reconnect the network cable on both sides and then try again. If this does not solve, try to reset the network: Settings> Network and Internet> Status, click on the side on Network Reset, follow the instructions.
