Good day! I'm Raniel, an Independent Advisor and a Microsoft user like you.
Kindly double-check if your machine doesn't have any pending security patches: Go to Start > Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update > Check for Updates. Also ensure that the necessary drivers for your machine are properly updated by getting them from the manufacturer's website. You may refer to this guide:
https://support.microsoft.com/help/4028443/wind...
Once done, perform a clean boot and see if you'll encounter the issue: https://support.microsoft.com/help/929135/how-t...
Another option is to install the generic driver for the touchpad:
- Open the Device Manager
- Right-click on your touchpad driver and select the Update driver software
- Select the option Browse my computer for driver software > Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer.
- Select "HID Compliant Mouse" and follow the instructions to install it.
- Perform a reboot and check again.
However, if the issue still persist, kindly perform a repair install of your Windows.
- Download the media creation tool here: https://www.microsoft.com/software-download/win... (click on "Download tool now") and wait for the download to finish
- Temporarily disable your firewall/antivirus, then open the tool and select the option "Upgrade this PC now".
- Wait until your machine goes to the process of repair install. There should be no worries in performing it since you will select the option to keep your files during the process.
I hope this helps. Good luck!
