DLL file

Hi

Recently, I found a msdia80.dll file of Sept'05 in my data partition D: drive while windows and other programmes are installed on C: drive. To the best of knowledge and memory, it wasn't there before. When I checked this forum for solution, I found that such a file should have been in C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\VC folder and that I should move that file from D: to above folder. However, when I checked that folder I found that I already have two such files there 1. msdia80.dll of May'11 and 2. msdia100.dll of Feb'11.

Should I delete the file from D: drive since It's the oldest and since I already have it in C: drive? Also, do I need both msdia80 and msdia100 files? Do I also have to register it by following command? OR just ignore everything?

regsvr32 C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\VC\msdia80.dll

Regards

Vinay

See if you can rename it, change the DLL extension to old. If you don't have any problems over the next week then I'd say it is safe to delete.

Hi Vinay28,

Good day! This is Jhakesong an Independent Advisor and I will be happy to assist you with this.

If you don't have any programs/apps installed in Drive D: then you can safely remove that DLL file from the drive.

You also don't need to re register the existing DLL files on drive C: since they should already be registered after it's initial installation.

Let me know how it goes. Have a great day!

    Hi Jhakesong and Neilpzz

My PC crashed and I not only had to reset it but also change a few parts. So the problem itself has vanished.

Many thanks for your assistance but now, in as much as I truly appreciate help given by both of you, I didn't know which or whose reply to mark as "problem solved" so I marked both. Unfortunately, while marking stars for satisfaction, I thought I had to click all but when I clicked the first star, the option vanished. Believe me, I wanted to mark 5 star for satisfaction.

Should I notice the .DLL file again, I know what to do, thanks to you two guys.

    Regards

    Vinay

Tks JhakeSong. I can't think of any app installed on D: drive but I will check thoroughly. Just to be sure, would it have to be an app installed in 2005 since msdia80.dll file is of 2005? If yes, I am sure there is no such app.

    tks again and regards

    vinay
