backup skips the documents folder

I have Windows 8.1. I purchased an external drive to back up my laptop, photos, music, documents... etc. The backup program skips the documents folder. Support from Seagate tried to troubleshoot but has come to the conclusion that it is a security issue with windows. Myself, and admin have full control of the folder. Seagate suggested I reach out to Microsoft, I thought I would try here first. Thanks in advance.

    How to backup files:

Open File Explorer from the Taskbar > Go to the file/s you wish to save > right click on it > hover Mouse Cursor over Send to > select an external Hard Drive or Memory Stick that you have plugged in to save them to.

    Use System Image Backup

You can still use System Image Backup in Windows 8/8.1.

I personally don't use it as there are often problems with it when Restoring an Image.

What error does the Seagate program encounter when it tries to read your documents folder? It would be incredibly, extremely unlikely that your Documents folder has different settings than your Photos & Music folders, or that Seagate would operate any differently when trying to read it. The only thing I could think of is perhaps your Documents folder is stored inside your OneDrive and perhaps only has cloud placeholders inside instead of real files, but that's just a random guess since I don't have any details of your particular setup and preferences as set on your computer.
