Hello everyone, today I was updating my drivers when I came upon an issue where when I manually selected files for two of my driver to update them, Windows gave me these errors (screenshots below) The two drivers experiencing this issue are Intel(R) iCLS Client and Intel(R) Management Engine Interface #1. If anyone could help me fix this frustrating issue, your help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Hi Clyde. I'm Greg, an Independent Advisor.

Where are you sourcing the drivers from? Start with the PC or motherboard manufacturer's Support Downloads webpage. While there check that you also have the latest chipset, BIOS, display, network, bluetooth, USB and all other drivers, compared to the ones presently installed in Device Manager reached by right clicking the Start button.

if necessary install in Safe Mode with Networking (so you have internet), or Safe Mode, accessed by one of these methods: https://www.digitalcitizen.life/4-ways-boot-saf...

If that fails try using the Intel Driver Update Utility: http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/...

And if that fails try manually updating from https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support...

Try this MS tool to assist the installs:

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/fix-p...

    More possible fixes here:

Go over this checklist to make sure the install is set up correctly, optimized for best performance, and any needed repairs get done: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wiki...

Start with Step 4 to turn off Startup freeloaders which can conflict and cause issues, then Step 7 to check for infection the most thorough way, then step 10 to check for damaged System Files, and also Step 17 to test a new Local Admin account. Then if necessary continue with the other steps to go over your install most thoroughly.

If nothing else works then do a Repair Install, by installing Media Creation Tool, open tool and choose to Upgrade Now. This reinstalls Windows while keeping files, programs and most settings in place, is the most stable method to advance to the latest version, and solves most problems. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-10/m...

Feel free to ask any questions. Based on the results you post back I may have other suggestions if necessary.

    Hello Greg,

Thank you for the quick and prompt response, I am sourcing the drivers from Microsoft Update Catalog: Microsoft Update Catalog I get most, if not all my drivers from here if the manufacture's doesn't offer the most up to date ones. In this case, the two I downloaded are not off of my motherboard's website, nor Intel's website (for the management engine driver, they offer one, however it's out of date). I've also tried intel driver assistant which claims my computer is up to date, however, that is false. I haven't tried the MS tool or installing them in safe mode. I will try these methods when I'm done typing this reply. Thank you again for the response and the possible fixes. Looking forward to talking to you again soon. Clyde

Okay, an update on the situation, I went to the toms forums article you linked. I uninstalled the Intel driver and downloaded the driver off of my motherboard's manufacturers website (although it's outdated) when I try to install it, I get this error, screenshot below. When I downloaded the driver off of Intel's website and tried installing it I got the same error. Does this mean my chipset (which is Z490 Taichi) is not compatible with the driver? I've also tried the other methods you linked. I've even looked over the guide you linked. I even rebooted after I made these changes to no avail. I do apologize if I sound ignorant. Clyde.

    Clyde -

Do you have the latest chipset and BIOS installed? That may be what's causing the failure. See this thread as example: https://www.dell.com/community/Precision-Mobile...
