This question sort of has two parts and both are as important as each other for my solution.
- How to add a custom windows splash screen to a PC with UEFI BIOS(without HackBGRT)?
- How to boot directly into an application and restrict all other functionaliy in windows?
Part 1: How to add a custom windows boot screen (without HackBGRT)?
Background:
I'm developing an application to sell to my customers/clients. This application will be pre-installed and set on a machine I will provide. When the machine is powered up, rather an see a microsoft windows icon, I'd like to see some of my customised branding.
What I've tried so far?
- This tutorial with this software. When I restarted my PC to see if there was a custom splash screen the system begun to reset the entire OS. This could've turned out a rather bad day but I was lucky the PC was new and didn't have any data worth revovering.
- This tutorial which at the very start said the solution was for older BIOS' that didn't have a UEFI setup and therefore is not compatible with my system.
After this, every forum/video viewed were all suggesting HackBGRT. I can think of quite a few reasons why Microsoft would make this process hard but hopefully not impossible.
Questions:
Is there a way to do this without using a 3rd party library or program? i.e. by changigng the windows registry or bios settings.
Part 2: How to boot directly into an application and restrict all other functionaliy in windows?
Background:
After the splash screen is displayed from Part 1, I'd like the main UI page of my application to be displayed. I.e. no windows login, no windows screen - simply branded splash screen followed by the app itself.
What I've tried so far?
- Basically windows start up program. Programs in this list appear to be loaded after login opposed to being pre-loaded when machine powers on.
- I've etablished the app can load straight into full screen.
Apart from the two above, I didn't get too far.
Thanks in advance for any help as its much appreciated.
Kind Regards
Patrick
P.S. I couldn't think a windows topic that matched this so "windows settings" might not be quite right.
