Video play back error message.

I recently purchased a new external hard drive. It is a 2TR SSD drive. I copied all my videos to it and some will play and others don't. I get an error message that says "Windows Media Player encountered a problem while playing the file"

I can play the video on my compute's hard drive but not on the new drive. I am trying to clean up my computer but I can't delete the videos if I can't view them on the new drive. I am using Windows Media Player.

Any suggestions out there?

Thanks

Jrod

You need to be in an administrator account, check your account type, Windows+R, type: netplwiz, press enter, see if your account is administrator, if necessary, double click on your user, Group membership , select administrator and Ok.

I tried to uninstall and was not able to. Got a message saying I needed to be a trusted installer?

Thank you for getting back to me.

Where would I reinstall Media Player from?

Hi, my name is Claudeir, user and independent consultant, welcome to the community! It will be a pleasure to help!

-I understand you, and I know how frustrating it can be when something doesn't work the way it should:

-I'll give you some possible solutions, I hope it solves.

If it doesn't solve the problem, the file is corrupting on your SSD.

Try a solution, if it doesn't solve it, try the next one:

-With new SSD connected, Windows+i, update and security, check for updates.

-Windows+i, Apps, Apps & Features, Optional Features, Search for Media player, Uninstall, Restart PC, go back and install Media player again.

-Try to play the video from Groove, recommended for Windows 10, Windows+i, Apps, Default apps, Music player, select Groove Music.

    -Format your new SSD:

Open Explorer, This computer, right click on your new SSD, Format.

If the answer helped in any way, please consider leaving your opinion, marking it as answered or leaving more details so that we can continue the service, this is very important to us.

    Sincerely,

    Claudeir
