Hello,

I run a windows 10 on 16gb ram and intel i5 8400 processor. The freeze that occured in my PC is that when im playing a game, the game and every background app will run fine, but the screen freeze and you won't be able to click anything outside the app youre in right now. in example : im running a game, in the background i have my browser and discord running, the discord and browser runs just fine because i still can talk with my friends, but when i alt tab from my game to the discord, the discord freezes and i can't click anything on it, but im still able to alt tab to my game, and to fix the freeze, i either have to restart my PC, or recently i found out if i open task manager through ctrl+alt+delete, it will unfreeze the apps, but if i open task manager through ctrl+shift+escape it will still freeze the task manager. Does anyone know whats wrong with my PC? or similar things also occured to you? I would like to know the solutions and the cause of this please. thank you

My name is Jan, I’m an Independent Advisor. I'll be happy to help. Lags and stuttering can be caused by outdated drivers or background applications. Also, Make sure all drivers and Windows are updated.

    1. Disable unnecessary application programs that are running from the startup.

Press Ctrl + shift + ESC

    Then click on Task Manager

    Then Navigate to Startup Tab

( from there you can Disable unnecessary applications running from the startup)

    1. Perform a Clean Boot to disable unnecessary startup and services.

    1. Try to reinstall and update these device drivers (graphics, audio, BIOS, and chipset drivers). Download them at the Manufacturer's support website and install them.

If you have an Nvidia or AMD graphics card.

Download the driver at the Manufacturer support site and install the driver.

Then choose Select "perform a clean installation"

    Once installed Restart your computer.

    1. This will upgrade and repair your system without losing your files and apps.

Download the Media creation tool here.

    Then choose "ISO"

Once it is downloaded click or open the file using the windows explorer

Then open or click "setup" to run.

    Hi Jeco

How are you? I hope you are doing good.

Welcome to Microsoft Community. I am Juliet, an independent advisor. It's my pleasure to help you today. I know how frustrating this may be for you but I'll do my very best to help you :)

I would suggest you try to Clear your computer’s temp files:

If Windows doesn’t have enough space to store temp files, it can slow down or even freeze. So you should clear them regularly.

    1. On your keyboard, press Windows key and R at the same time, then in the Run form, type temp and hit Enter. This will invoke Windows Explorer with your Temp folder open, showing you all the temp files on your computer.
    2. Select all the files in the Temp folder and delete them.

I hope it helps! Let me know the results.

Please Let me know if you have more questions or the above method didn't work for you, I'll be more than happy to assist you further :)
