Windows live Mail 2012 password problem

Hi Running windows 10 and windows email 2012. Password has been changed (for whatever reason? 3 days ago) and I cannot log into the emails. Keep getting the popup asking for a p/w but doesnt accept any p/w, either new or old. Went into the various areas to change the settings/mail p/w but it wont match them and again, it doesnt matter which one I use or try to match.

Found the directory/file that shows all the passwords for all the apps on the computer but ofc it doesnt show any windows related ones.

Cannot find the directory/file that is in Windows thru DOS/command prompt

Dont really want to use a 3rd party "sniffer" app if I can avoid it.

Any ideas?

Steve

    Sign-in : Can't Sign-in (General)

If you can't sign-in to your Microsoft e-mail account (for instance, you forgot your password), go to "When you can't sign in to your Microsoft account" for troubleshooting suggestions -

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-au/help/12429/microsoft-account-cant-sign-in

If you apply to change your password, Microsoft will not make the change you request for one month. In the meanwhile they will notify the account owner, by e-mail, and give him one month to object to the change (in case you are attempting to hijack someone else's e-mail account). You won't object, because you won't receive their e-mail, as you are locked out of the account.

After the one month delay, you can use the new password you've nominated to sign-in to your e-mail account.

If you can’t reset your password, or an attacker changed your account settings, the recovery form at "Recover your Microsoft account" gives you a chance to prove that you own the account (this account recovery form is meant to be the last option to get you back into your account) -

If your account was deleted, there is additional advice here:

    Hi Don

    Thanks for your reply.

Mail servers are Outlook/Bigpond and Gmail but they still run under the Windows Essentials/live mail umbrella. Resetting the computer/modem misses the point as its not a hardware issue. Rang Bigpond for help and they couldnt resolve the issue either (which Im not surprised abound btw)

    I will continue researching.

    > Outlook/Bigpond and Gmail

You're being told the password you're entering is incorrect for both of these email accounts?

Windows Live Mail 2012 doesn't have a password unless you're being asked to login to a specific email account when WLM opens. Is that what's happening?

    Repeating...

Easy enough that you should try it... shut down the computer, modem and router for 5 minutes then restart them all.

Don't post the address, but the account you can't access... which email service? Outlook.com, Yahoo, Gmail, one of the ATT/Yahoo services?

Easy enough that you should try it... shut down the computer, modem and router for 5 minutes then restart them all.
