Network Credentials Dialog Box???

Every time. EVERY TIME you guys send out a major update, my server suddenly doesn't recognize me for network access.

I am trying to get to a shared drive on my server from my laptop. Both are Windows 10. Normally it's no problem. But sometime over the weekend, I had to go through a 4-hour update on my server. When it finally came back up, I could no longer access the network drives. Instead, I get this:

I don't have any idea what my network credentials are; as far as I'm concerned, we're one big happy HOME network. I've run into this before, but somehow was able to get past it without having to enter anything.

So what on earth does this refer to? And how can I stop it from popping up whenever there's an update?

Hello jimspy, welcome to the Microsoft community my name is Luiz Cruz, I am a Windows 10 expert user and would be happy to help you;

I understand that you are having difficulties accessing the server's network;

Initially I recommend that you try the following:

Press Windows key + I and access settings;

Click on Network and Internet;

Scroll down and click Network and Sharing Center;

On the left of the screen, click on Advanced Sharing Settings;

Click the down arrow next to Private and enable the options: Enable network discovery, Enable automatic configuration of network connected devices, and Enable file and printer sharing;

Click the down arrow next to Guest or Public and check the options: Enable network discovery and Enable file and printer sharing;

Click the down arrow next to All networks and check the options: Enable sharing so anyone with network access can read and write files in public folders and Disable password-protected sharing;

Click Save Changes;

Note: Do this on all computers you want to access the network;

I hope I helped, see you soon!

    I thought I had done all that, in fact I have a shortcut to that dialog on my desktop.  What I forgot was to change the All Networks setting.

    Success.

    Gratitude.

    Closure.
