Win 10 digital lic

Dear All,

I purchased two Win10 licenses through MS site: Pro and Home editions. I tried to install them both on two PCs, but every time during fresh installation process from USB stick, as soon as I'm entering my account details - the Pro version gets installed. The installation wizard in not giving me any option. Going to activation page shows me that I have a Pro version activated by my digital license. I've deleted all my PCs from the account device list, but nothing changed. Honestly, I have no problem to use Pro editions on both PCs, if it is not violating licensing agreement etc.

Thank You for help in advance...

Hi GenBy

A Windows licence can only be applied to one PC at a time, usually what happens is the licence is checked during Windows updates, and if the licensing service notices the same licence on two PC's the most recent PC it was installed on will retain the licence and the other one would be deactivated automatically, it can take some time for this to happen.

Hi GenBy

I am Dave, I will help you with this.

If you want to force a USB to install a Windows 10 Home retail licence, you can use these steps.

Right click your Desktop, choose New - Text Document

Paste the text below into that document

[EditionID]

Core

[Channel]

Retail

Then choose File - Save Aa, at the bottom of the Save As dialog, change file type to 'All Files' then save that file as ei.cfg (note you must manually add the cfg file extension)

Then copy that ei.cfg file into the Sources folder in your USB Installation Media

    Hi Dave,

Thx for the prompt reply - will try this week. I've installed Pro on both PCs as default.

Do you know if I leave two pcs with Pro version does it mean that I'm violating lic agreement, because I was not able to find appropriate answer in the internet regarding retail versions. Maybe, if it is linked to login account I don't have to take care about computers itself, as everytime it has my account linked to Win installation, I can see all my devices in the account device list.

    BR
