I was on Windows 10 Home edition, I upgraded my laptop to Windows 11. After doing so, I purchased through Microsoft Store, The pro edition.

Now it wont let me activate Windows and keeps coming up with the following error:
We cant activate Windows on this device because you don't have a valid digital license or product key. If you think you do have a valid license or key, select troubleshoot below. Error code: 0xC004C003

What am i doing wrong?

Windows for home | Windows 11 | Windows update

Is the edition showing Enterprise? If yes, do these steps:

Turn OFF the internet --> IMPORTANT

Go to the Activation page and click Change product key, and paste this key:

    VK7JG-NPHTM-C97JM-9MPGT-3V66T

Click Next and follow the on-screen steps.

    Hi tennbebo

I am Dave, I will help you with this.

Open the Settings App, then go to System - About, what version of Windows 10 is now installed on your PC, is that the Enterprise or Pro edition?

If it is, this is a known bug in the Home to Pro upgrade process, where the Enterprise edition gets installed instead of Pro, use this fix:

Important - disconnect totally from the Internet

Open the Settings App (Gear icon on your Starr Menu)

Go to Update and Security - Activation

    Click Change Product key

Enter this generic product key: VK7JG-NPHTM-C97JM-9MPGT-3V66T

    When prompted, click 'Activate Product'

If the above does not work first time, restart your PC and try again.

Note the generic key will cause Enterprise to downgrade to the Pro edition, then your own legal licence will activate automatically after you restart (not shut down) your PC

Please help. I was having problems signing in to my online server through remote desktop so I was advised that I had to upgrade from my windows 11 Home to Windows 11 Pro. So, I purchased an upgrade to Windows 11 pro through Microsoft Store.  However, it upgraded me to the Windows 10 Enterprise. Now it won't let me activate Windows and keeps coming up with the following error: "We can't activate Windows on this device because you don't have a valid digital license or product key. If you think you do have a valid license or key, select troubleshoot below. Error code: 0xC004C003"
