Hi
I have emails on MS 365 and I am using windows 10 email programme. I added the account and chose MS 365 Exchange and it detected the settings automatically.
The problem is I also want the exchange account working with MS outlook, but when I try and create the account in MS Outlook 2007 on the PC it won't automatically detect the settings. I tried doing it with the email in the control panel. It tries to detect and I get a message saying "welcome back to autodiscover-s outlook.com" The username is populated with my email address but nothing in the password. So I type in the email password but when I click OK the password disappears. If I go ok to a blank password it tries to connect but fails.
Why would it work on the windows 10 email but not in outlook the standalone email program. I am using Outlook 2007, maybe that is why. I tried to set it up manually but I have to type in the server password for the exchange but don't know what that is. The settings in the windows 10 email programme doesn't display that information. Can someone advise, thanks.

See the list of supported clients in that link:

As of October 13, 2020, only these versions of Office are supported for connecting to Office 365 (and Microsoft 365) services:

Microsoft 365 Apps for enterprise (previously named Office 365 ProPlus)
Microsoft 365 Apps for business (previously named Office 365 Business)
Office 2019, such as Office Professional Plus 2019
Office 2016, such as Office Standard 2016
Examples of Office 365 services include Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, and OneDrive for Business.

For Microsoft 365 Apps, you must be using a supported version. For a list of which versions are currently supported, see Update history for Microsoft 365 Apps.

Outlook 2007 is not supported with Office 365:
    https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/deployoffice/endofsupport/office-365-services-connectivity

After October 13, 2020, ongoing investments to our cloud services will not take into account older Office clients. Over time, these Office clients may encounter performance or reliability issues. Organizations that use these older clients will almost certainly face an increased security risk and may find themselves out of compliance depending upon specific regional or industry requirements.

Therefore, administrators should update older Office clients to versions of Office supported for connecting to Office 365 services.

    Hi @Fordette ,

As shared in the reply provided by Andy, only the versions of Office listed are officially supported for connecting to Microsoft 365 service. So we can learn that neither Outlook 2007 nor Outlook 2013 is supported.

But according to the description in the "Minimum version requirements for Outlook for Windows" section of the article, starting on November 1, 2021, the minimum version of Outlook 2013 for Windows is "Version 15.0.4971.1000 of Office 2013 (Service Pack 1 with the October 2017 Update, KB 4043461)", so theoratically, you can connect to MS 365 using Outlook 2013. But please be aware that, although it could work, it's not supported and you may encounter performance or reliability issues.

As per your concern about POP or IMAP, you can set the account up using them instead of Exchange based on my research. The settings can be found in this documentation:

For the setup instructions, here's an article for your reference:

Please Note: Since the web site is not hosted by Microsoft, the link may change without notice. Microsoft does not guarantee the accuracy of this information.
But still, as Outlook 2007 is now retired, it's highly recommended to upgrade to a supported version of Office.
