Msconfig Won't Save Changes

I'm trying to change msconfig to Normal Startup but it won't save the changes. Fixes that I've tried:

  • Creating a new admin account.
  • Saving the changes in safe.
  • Enabling start up services.

I've been getting GPU driver crashes and this could be the cause of it.

    Hi Murdoch,

I am Sumit here to assist you with this question.

    Possible cause:

The Msconfig Startup Selection Reverts from Normal to Selective Startup

I don't believe GPU crash is related to the same.

Have you tried removing and reinstalling the drivers as a first step?

    Hi,

This only boots the PC in normal mode after a restart, I want to change msconfig so that my PC always boots in normal mode. After doing this method msconfig reverts to Selective Startup.

You can change the startup mode in two ways without using the MSConfig, using the startup settings, and using the command prompt.

1-Restart your computer while holding the SHIFT button

2-The Advanced Startup menu will open on the boot.

    3-Go to Troubleshoot.

4-Now, go to Advanced Options > Startup Settings.

    5-Click the Restart button.

6-A window with various startup options will show up.

7-Press Enter to boot in normal mode

8-Wait for your computer to boot

    Using the command prompt

1-Restart your computer while holding the SHIFT button

2-The Advanced Startup menu will open on the boot.

    3-Go to Troubleshoot.

4-Now, go to Advanced Options >Command prompt

    5-Run this command:

bcdedit /deletevalue {current} safeboot (and press Enter)

6-When finish close the command prompt then click to return to the first screen

7-Click to continue to normal boot
