I have an canon imageclass mf4412 printer which is attached through usb port to a pc running on windows 8.1 OS . The printer is shared through a workgroup . The printer does not have RJ45 lan connection . When i try to add the printer on a pc running on windows 10 os it gives 0*00000709 error please check if the printer is connected to network . i have uninstalled all the recent microsoft security updates that were installed in the past 1 week but still the error continues . can anyone please address my query or if there are any changes to be made in registry . i doubt if it has got anything to do with windows updates since everything was working perfectly till last week and apart from windows updates no other software has been newly installed .

We used to have a similar issue with our printer it was the same brand of printer but a different model of printer instead of ours being USB ours was Bluetooth over WiFi one day my mother went to use it and we had issue it kept giving her a error code we come to find out that cannon quit doing firmware updates on it about 2 years prior to this and that's why its quit working although i don't think that this is the issue in your case i think that it might actually be that Windows 10 may require you to have the device connected you network to use it
