Bogus Update Screen

I am a repair tech. Does anyone recognize this? I am fairly certain that it is bogus. While it is open, the cursor moves. I've uninstalled any known remote access programs and ran Malwarebytes, Windows Defender offline and Norton Removal Tool. Went through everything in Autostart and didn't see anything unusual. Any ideas on how to clean it?

Hi Jester_XJ12

If you did not install that software yourself, then that is not good, that is otherwise known as ConnectWise Control is a self-hosted remote desktop software

That is a utility that allows people to connect to your PC, if you did not install that, completely uninstall it from your PC.

    Hi Dave,

The screen comes and goes intermittently without any reboot. Per update history, there are no updates applied at the time the screen was displayed.

    Hi Jester_XJ12

    That is strange behavior indeed.

    1

On the updates page in the settings app, is there any pending or downloading updates?

    2

Click your Start Button, then just type winver and press Enter

Please provide a screenshot of the resulting dialog.

    Hi Jester

I am Dave, I will help you with this.

    1

The wording on that screen is certainly strange, but Microsoft do tend to keep changing things, was there any spinning dots on that screen indicating progress?

    2

You indicate you have performed some troubleshooting steps, does that mean you can now get into Windows?

If so, check the list of installed updates, does any of them match the date and time when you saw that screen?
