After I upgraded to "Mac" Version 16.51 of Word, PP, and Excel they have not worked. They close down or just hang up. I can't even find version 16.51 on the Microsoft site, only version 16.49? I'm using an iMac running MacOS Mojave version 10.14.6 and this is not good. Any help would be very welcome, thanks. Louis

    Thanks you so much John. I was on the phone for 2 hours today with Microsoft support and they deleted everything in connection to the office applications so they could load in a new version, and didn't even pick up on the version number being the Insider Fast program, even tho I gave them the version number! They screen shared with me and look right at the version number. Now when I try to open up the apps they have me sign in and it tells me I don't own the apps even tho I've been using them on my Mac for several years! Microsoft support wants me to buy the Office and Student 2019 app all over again. I'm kind of feed up with Microsoft, and having a bourbon right now. So I can't even get back into the Office to try your idea. I have the product key for Office, but I can't get to the point where I can enter it in.

    But you know more about what is happening then the 3rd level support person that ended up talking to, again thank you sir! Louis

    Update

    @Louis Wise

    Thanks for your reply and sharing.
    Please go to Word and try the following steps.

    • Click Help > Check for Updates.
    • Check whether there is the Join the Office Insider program to get early access to new releases check box.

    If yes, you may clear the check box to opt out the Office Insider builds on Mac.
    And then uninstall/reinstall Office for Mac as JohnKorchok's comment for a check.

    If not, please download install package of Version 16.49 (21050901) and install it directly.
    If this step does not work either, I would suggest you create a new user profile for Mac to check this issue.

    First I tried John's comment and selected the Current Channel before updating in the Advance Box. I was in the wrong channel before the change. And I still got the 16.51 version of Word after the download. I can't open Excel or PowerPoint to see their version, see next sentence. But now after Microsoft support deleted everything connected to MS in my Library, I now have to sign in to activate the software after the download except for Word. Word comes up but is not activated and there is no Product ID and it's read only I think. When I try to open Excel and PP I get the box to sign-in to activate and after I do that I get the "No License Found" box and it asks me to buy Office. I went for working versions of Word, Excel and PP to having nothing right now.

    When I go to the MS web site and sign in and look at my account, under Services and Subscriptions I see the Office Home and Student 2019 and a Product Key there. But there is no way to put that Product Key into the software to activate it. 103501-screenshot-730.png

    Any ideas would be welcome. Thanks to both of you for you input here. Louis

    John, thanks for checking that out, and I have proven it myself here. I just didn't get downloaded the current version. I did downloaded the software from my account page, and it still sends me to the activation page when I try to open the software, and then after I put in my account ID and password, it sends me to the No License Found. It takes my ID and password OK, as I can always log into MS. I don't think they downloaded Microsoft 365 at any time. I wish I knew how to put in my product key from my MS account page, and activate the software.

    It might be easier to get a family plan for Office 365 from MS and move on. My wife and son could use it also.

    Regards, Louis
