So now i cant use .zp files or url files.

    Hi Lewis

That is okay, delete that dummy exe and restart (not shut down) the PC and check if the file association is removed for 7z files.

    Hi Lewis

Do you have 7Zip installed on your PC to open those files, if you do, you can open 7Zip and go int that applications settings and set the files association on 7Z files.

Otherwise, to remove the file association totally and end up with no application associated to 7z files, here are the steps.

    1

    Open Windows File Explorer

On the view Ribbon (tab) check the box marked 'File Name Extensions'

    Close File Explorer

    2

Right click your Desktop and choose New - Text File

Right click that text file and choose rename, then change the file extension on that new file from .txt to .exe

    Confirm the change

    3

Right click a .7z file, choose open with - Choose another App

Check the box marked 'Always use this app to open .7z files' - IMPORTANT!

Scroll to the bottom and click 'More Apps'

Again scroll to the bottom and choose 'Find another app on this PC'

Navigate to the dummy file exe on your Desktop and click OK

The .7z file will not open, this is expected

    4

Delete the fake exe file on your Desktop and restart (not shut down) your PC

The file association will then be removed!

    Hi Lewis

I am Dave, I will help you with this.

    1

What are those zp files, what app are they meant to open with, or do you just want to remove the file association to an app on those zp files?

    2

To reset the file association on the URL file type, download the reg file form the link below, then right click that file and choose Merge and confirm the merge
