Hi

I have a computer that has a C drive and a D drive. My C drive is much smaller than my D drive and is nearly full. Therefore I want to change the default location of programs, documents, images, downloads etc to D drive. how do I do this? (see attached)

    Hello how are you?

I`m Marcelo de C., an independent Advisor. It is a pleasure to help you today. I know how frustrating it can be for you, but I will do my best to help you :)

First change the location on the system by going to settings>system>storage>change where new content is saved. La change everything to drive D:

Note:This method is only valid for apps downloaded from the microsoft store.

For programs you must change the location they are installed to before the installation process, where the program asks where you want to install it. You click to change where you want to install it. (by default it comes where windows is installed).

For things downloaded in the browser you can go to settings>downloads>change where the new content is saved. I recommend you create a download folder inside the D drive, if you don't have it.

For programs that download stuff to your computer the process is basically the same, go to the application settings and set the location where the new content is saved to the D drive in your preferred folder.

I hope the information above helps. Please let me know how it goes.

Have a nice day and stay safe.

    Marcelo de C.

    Thx Marcelo

I have done the above but have two questions.

    1. How do I change the location of existing programs?
    2. How do I sync OneDrive to D drive when it is currently synced to C drive?

    Cheers

    Shaun

1- Unfortunately, some programs allow you to switch from one storage to another without having to reinstall them again. To check which programs have this functionality you can go to settings>applications>applications and resources.

Note: Most would have to reinstall in the new location anyway.

2- For this step I will leave a link below, as I could describe it to you, but this link has images that can help you.

    additional problem.:

actually this warning is quite strange, you check if you are actually copying the file from disk C to disk D, so it seems he's trying to copy to the same disk.
