Hi Adrian. I'm Greg, 10 years awarded Windows MVP, specializing in Installation, Performance, Troubleshooting and Activation, here to help you.

Where are the results of the steps I gave you to try and asked to report back results? This tells me what to suggest next.

Have you uninstalled Bitdefender including with it's uninstall tool here:

    https://www.bitdefender.com/consumer/support/an...

Thanks for clarifying the error you're getting. Try the fixes here:

Also, may I ask why you're in a hurry to get Windows 11, especially if you're not willing to reinstall your Apps due to licensing issues which mostly do not exist any longer.? I am the author of the tutuorials which popularized Clean Installs among consumers over the past decade. No software provider wll stay in business who does not make it easy to reinstall because consumers want to do this whenever they please and will not tolerate disruptions. Perhaps you can share your concerns more in depth so I can help you since I have knowlege about most all of these, and many are covered in my latest gold standard Clean Install tutorial which is being updated now for Windows 11: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wiki...

Keep me posted on your progress as I will be here to help until the case is resolved.

Troubleshoot Windows 11 upgrade and Installation errors - Microsoft Community

    https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/how-to-troubleshoot-windows-11-upgrade-and/ebf722db-701d-460f-985f-35c4b71383e7

Let us check the following Logs to investigate why the upgrade to Windows 11 failed. Use a File sharing Website like Onedrive to share the files and post the link in the next response.

C:$Windows.~BT\Sources\Panther: File named Setupact.log records actions in the downlevel and SafeOS phase. As the log can be very large, the setup also creates a file named "Setuperr.log" that only has information about the errors encountered by the Setup to narrow the source of the problem.

C:$Windows.~BT\Sources\Rollback: File named Setupact.log records what happened after the update failed and Windows rolled back to Windows 10. The starting portion of the file may explain what happened and why the update failed.

    Supplementary logs if present:

    1. Device Install Log in C:/$Windows.~bt\Sources\Rollback\setupapi\setupapi.dev.log

2**.** Setupmem.dmp present in C:$Windows.~BT\Sources\Rollback if the PC BSODed during the process.

These folders may be hidden, so you need to either show the hidden files or paste the path in the Run Dialog box.

It is hard to evaluate something like you are seeing without the files setuperr.log and setupact.log which are in the C:$Windows.~BT \Sources\Panther folder. Even with those, if something is happening while the system is working offline, the problem may not even be written to the logs..

    Thanks for this.

I have tried about 10 times after the usual fixes of stripping back to bare motherboard, clean install via msconfig, SFC & Restore Health etc and I always get the same error message as below. The error report is from processing the update logs with Setupdiag.exe. Currently checking if there is an option just to include apps as part of upgrade and attach personal files later? Quite desperate to avoid having to attempt to transfer registration codes for expensive apps after a new install.

    Thanks Again

    Adrian

Hi Adrian. I'm Greg, 10 years awarded Windows MVP, specializing in Installation, Performance, Troubleshooting and Activation, here to help you.

Do you mean that this is a failure of Windows 11 Upgrade? How far into the Upgrade process does it occur? Please clarify exactly what you are trying to do and when the error appears.

    Try these fixes:

    https://www.lifewire.com/fix-when-windows-11-wo...

    https://www.ubackup.com/articles/windows-11-ins...

https://windowsreport.com/windows-11-installati... (Avoid ad links which intrude into editorial copy, especially avoid Restoro and Reimage ads)

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3MzA-K8QuyM

If you haven't yet you can try running the ISO or installation media from https://www.microsoft.com/en-in/software-downlo.... If you make the installation media you'll have it in case you need to Clean Install.

If all else fails you can do a Clean Install following these steps:

    https://www.groovypost.com/howto/clean-install-...

    https://pureinfotech.com/clean-install-windows-11/

Based on the results you post back I may have other suggestions if necessary.
