Dear Microsoft Team

Is there a plan for Windows 11 to support the Intel Core i&-5960X CPU at 3000GHz processor?

The Alienware gaming desktop I want to upgrade ton Windows 11 is not that old.

Is there an option from DELL to upgrade the processor to a supported CPU?

Best regards

John

Is there a plan for Windows 11 to support the Intel Core i7-5960X CPU at 3000GHz processor?

No, there is no such plan, because Intel is not able to modify hardware that has already been installed in your computer.

In addition: There is no Microsoft Team here. We are a community of Windows 10 users trying to help each other out.

You can reach out to your computer manufacturer to check/upgrade your processor to one that support Windows 11.

No. A motherboard with a socket designed for one generation of processor won't accept a processor from a more recent generation. The entire motherboard would have to be replaced, which isn't always possible with an OEM computer.

    Hi John-

I'm Kevin B. Windows user like you. I do apologize for the inconvenience, let me help you sort things out.

Your processor is not on the list of processors that supports Windows 11.

You may check the list here:

    Windows 11 supported Intel processors:

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-hardwa...

Microsoft usually offers the upgrade to those devices Microsoft believes are the most likely to successfully install the upgrade. If the computer passes the hardware requirements, windows updates will offer the upgrade in stages until such time that device is ready to install the upgrade.

You can reach out to your computer manufacturer to check/upgrade your processor to one that support Windows 11.

You can also stay with Windows 10 as it is still supported until 2025.

Hope this will help and have a blessed day!

    Thanks,

    Kevin B.

We don't work for MS. We're normal users like you.

No, I don't think so since that's not an 8th gen processor.

    And I haven't seen a processor with 3000GHz frequency.
