Had a pop up on on computer that completely locked me out of everything, said to call the number on the screen, even had a voice over sayin the had been locked up and call do not shut down or you could lose everything. We'll I called. Being dumb. A lady answered said she was from Microsoft. I explained what happened. She walked the thought a process, downloaded ultraviewer, she had me give the code, then had my press the windows key and r. Brought up a black screen. And walked me through all of that and showed hackers and the phone lines where were tampered really bad websites had been looked at and downloaded. Financial information had been used, seemed real. Then she wanted me to call my bank and log on through my computer, "because she called me on a Microsoft safe phone line" And make sure there was no bad charges.. I never logged on to my bank account on my computer because I was starting to think it was a scam.. hung up now really hoping nothing got stolen prolly have to change bank accounts just to be safe, can anyone tell me if I actually talked to someone from Microsoft..?

Change the password and check whether any 2FA details have been changed. Contact your bank, and let them know what happened, so they can look out for any suspicious transactions.

You definitely spoke to a tech support scammer. Uninstall Ultraviewer and change any passwords that may have been compromised. If something like that ever happens again:

To kill the stuck browser process, do whichever of the following works:

    • Press Alt + F4 (until the process is terminated)
    • Press Ctrl + Shift + Escape to open Task Manager, locate the browser processes and right click End Task
    • Hold the power button down until your computer turns off

    Clear your browser cache

For Edge, enter edge://settings/clearBrowserData into the URL bar. Select the first three options then press Clear now
