Microsoft Blocked Scam

HI,

My elderly father was subject to some Indian scammers last week. They made him log on to his computer. He likley changed some settings, but did not give any of his details away, when they asked. He hung up in the end. Now when he boots up, the log on screen shows ''Microsoft Blocked' as the user ID. None of his passwords work. My fathers user ID is not a microsoft online one, just a local PC user.

However my microsoft online ID does still appear at the bottom. I've shaded my userid on image as this is a public forum, but I can see it on his PC. Can anyone help us to recover my Dad's PC? I suspect he has changed some registry settings for the PC administrator?

if you have copy of your operating system on dvd insert it into the dvd drive and reboot as the screen appears press F8 choose your dvd disc with operating system on it and enter it wait until you see the next screen press enter again.

allow the dvd to boot into windows screen to install but instead of installing click the repair button and enter the advanced section choose restore point for your fathers account prior to the call.

    this should technically unlock it.

Hi, I'm Elise, and I'd be happy to help with your issue.

Are you able to login to your own account when you select this option?

If so you may need to create a new user for your father to use and then delete the scam one.

    Kind Regards,

    Elise
