Microsoft Authenticator Data Lost

Hi everyone,

A challenging question here, I was using Microsoft Authenticator on my previous phone and have now bought a new one, installed everything on the new smartphone, and I realized that after the log-in and recovery on the Microsoft Authenticator, I did lose all the 2-step verification code generator.

At that point was already too late to go back to my old phone because I had performed a Factory Rest already.

Now I had the possibility to restore some of them, but others, like the Instagram one, are impossible to deal with without the generator that was present on the old phone.

Are there any copies in my Microsoft account saved somewhere?

How should I proceed? I realized that the backup option on my new phone is set "off" by default, and I thought that was silly.

Thanks for all the answers in advance and your support,

Sorry, but It is hard to believe that Microsoft does not have a backup in their servers of my data.

Not less important, It is even harder to believe that an option so crucial as a backup of sensitive information is "off" by default. I have managed to change just a few access, but not all of them.

Please help me to restore the 2AF from the Microsoft Authenticator App; it is already frustrating enough in this situation.

I appreciate any help you can provide.

    Francesco

    Hi, thanks for reaching out!

Sorry, unfortunately there are not any backup copies of those credentials stored elsewhere when backup is turned off.

Most online services prompt you to save recovery codes, or enable addiitonal authentication methods like email or mobile when multi-factor authentication is turned on. These could be useful in resetting multi-factor authentication for those services.

Please let me know if I can help you further!
