No internet after reinstalling

I recently reinstalled windows since i got a new boot drive, but the first thing i noticed was that i wasn’t getting internet. it shows im connected (ethernet) but no internet access. same for my wifi card (which makes me believe it’s a windows issue since my phone is fine). the first thing i did was run all netsh commands that could possibly fix it to no avail. ran all ipconfig commands, still nothing. changed my bios settings to see if that would change anything and nope it did not. i manually entered the ip addresses etc for both ipv4 and 6 and it didn’t change anything either.

i also looked at my modem and router to make sure it wasn’t that, and everything is fine there.

i’ve done everything in these forums and everything i’ve found online including manually installing drivers, both from realtek’s website and msi’s. didn’t do anything.

i have a little dell dock that has an ethernet port in it so i plugged that in and i got ethernet, but only ipv4 has internet. that gives me hope but obviously doesnt fix anything as ipv4 only loads 1% of websites i visit.

also what’s weird is that when i use a vpn with the dock i get ipv6 just fine, which makes me think windows is having trouble getting a dns, but i’ve done everything in my knowledge to help windows get it.

side note to that, if i try to use a vpn with just my on board ethernet it doesn’t connect at all since both ipv4 and 6 are toast.

note: switching to my linux drive shows that linux has no issue with my ethernet connection and i can use it just fine. it’s only windows that has trouble.

another note: i’ve also disabled my firewall’s, done corrupted file checks, done whole system diagnostics, and nothing.

if there’s anything that i haven’t already mentioned that could possibly fix this please let me know. thanks!

Do you get internet access on a wired connection if you restart the computer in Safe Mode with Networking?

There are some events in the Event Logs that may point to a connection issue.

The IP Helper Service is presently disabled - can you enable this service:

Start > type services and then click on the Services app.

In the right window scroll down to the IP Helper service and double-click the IP Helper service.

Under the "General" tab set the Startup type to "Automatic" > OK

    Restart the computer.

    If problems persists post back.

    Hi,

Can you provide the following information which may help determine any issue(s):

Windows Key + R > type msinfo32 in the "Open" box > OK > File > Save > then save as an .nfo file

Then make the resulting .nfo file available via a public folder on OneDrive or similar site.

Also, can you do the following:

Windows Key + R > type eventvwr in the "Open" box > OK > expand "Custom Views" and then right-click "Administrative Events" > select "Save all events in Custom View As" and save as an .evtx file

Then make the resulting .evtx file available via a public folder on OneDrive or similar site.

Here's a link on using OneDrive:
